(curvature of the spine). There are a few variations to this brace
but the most common type starts at the hips with a molded pelvic girdle
(leather or plastic) and has 2 posterior metal bars that attached to the back
of the pelvic girdle and one anterior bar in front. The metal bars run up the
entire length of the spine and connect into a neck ring which completely
encircles the neck and has a small plastic throat mold in front and two small
head pieces in back where the occipital portion of the skull rests. The Milwaukee brace is typically worn 23 hours a day from the age of about 12 to 21 years old. There are many variations of this brace, most which can be found on the mega Milwaukee Brace Site.
Milwaukee Braces are very difficult to get, mainly because they are all custom fabricated and are not very widely used. A good place to look for this type of brace is on E-Bay, thrift stores or 2nd hand store. Also keep checking the ad board on this site or some of the other sites listed in the links section of NBAK.
