The Halo Brace

Halo's are used when maximum restriction is required. Halo's are normaly used to treat injuries of the middle and upper cervical (neck) region of the spine. There are many varations of this brace but they usually consists of some sort of molded plastic body jacket with a cervical extention that attaches to a round metal ring (the halo). The metal ring has a series of steel pins which tighten directly into the skull and hold the head and neck in the desired position.

Halo's are also not easy to come by since most of them are custom, however, some of the orthopedic supply shops carry a few models that are prefabricated, but you will need a prescription to buy one or have a good contact. A good place to look for this type of brace is on E-Bay, thrift stores or 2nd hand store. Also keep checking the ad board on this site or some of the other sites listed in the links section of NBAK.
